Arnica

Arnica has a serial structure that is evident in the constant conversation between the trio: vibraphone, violin and timpani. Dedicated to Morris “Arnie’ Lang (1932-2021), the work begins with three wind-up drumming toys that are manipulated by the trio – a direct reference to Arnie’s extensive collection of toys of this type. The use of voice and speech by musicians brings quotes from the chaotic daily life of metropolises.
